Global sea ice melting
"...Sea ice in the Arctic and Antarctic regions is melting with global heating, due to our massive burning of fossil fuels. With more C02 that comes from burning fossil fuels, world oceans become more acid than many creatures can bear. More acid in the ocean threatens the lives of many plankton.
This animation shows a Sea butterfly, or Pteropod (meaning 'winged foot) - a form of plankton. The data comes from an Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) report. I made the animation in conversation with scientist Katherina Petrou. Katherina provided the scientific data and suggested that the Sea butterfly dance within the data."
